They say it's your birthday...

The big 3-0 has come and gone, and I have to say, it was a blast!  In fact, I'm still celebrating.  I promised a blow by blow blogging of my list, so I'm going to start a little out of order:

#30 - Say goodbye to my 20s in style!

Thursday morning, the day before my actual birthday, I came into the office to find this:

My super sweet coworkers had decorated my door!  I want to keep this up all year!  Thursday night held our very first bunco night (more about that in the bunco post!), and it was a blast.  I had so much fun with the girls and went to bed happy and content about my last night as a 20 something.

Friday morning, I woke up early (I'm old now, that's what we do), and started the day off with a massage, a brow wax, and a shower.  Steffi met me for lunch, shopping for the perfect birthday dress, and a little mani/pedi.  When our hubbies got home from work, we had some birthday tacos at Fuzzy's, and then it was party time!

Yall know I love me some wine, so what better place to have my birthday party than a winery?  I decided to have a small and classy birthday bash year, so the winery closed down except for me and about 15 of my closest friends, and we got to talk, reminisce, eat wonderful cupcakes, and drink some delicious wine!  We stayed up way too late and the day was jam packed, but jam packed full of fun.  I'm excited to get to continue birthday fun today with my family!

Stay tuned for tomorrow's post:  #1 - Lose weight!

Only one week...

I've got only one week left until my 30th birthday!  I can't believe it's almost here.  I still have a few things left on my list to accomplish, and I plan to work my butt off this next week to finish my list.  It's going to be hard, but I refuse to quit until next Thursday night at midnight.  There won't be much blog posting next week, but starting on my birthday, look for lots of blogging!  Make sure you become a follower to get updates!

Thoughts of a Non-Runner: C25K, Week 1, Day 2

Ok, time to do this again. I can do it. Brisk walk, no problem. 1st run, owned you. Oh look, there's fajitas on the tv! I wonder how many of these I would have to do to run those off. Hmm, this isn't as bad as last time. 4th run, ok, I'm getting a little tired. Hey there's dog hair on the tread mill! I wonder if I brought that with me. Oops. ^&%&%^$ Another run?! Didn't I just do that?! Stop looking at me ultra fit lady across the gym! This is HARD! Ok, 9th run, almost there...cool down walk, I can do it. Dang, this is the longest cool down ever. What? It's done? I did it again!! Take THAT, ultra fit lady!

Thoughts of a Non-Runner: C25K, Week 1, Day 1

Here's what happens when a non runner starts trying to run - my thoughts:

"Oh yeah, I can do this. Brisk walk warm up, I'm going to own it. First run, got it. Ok, that wasn't so bad. Back to walking. 30 minutes, this will be no problem. Oh, I have to run again? I can do that. Ok, I'm kinda tired. Can I walk again? Run 3 of 9?! %^&$^%^# What was i thinking? Nine?! Oh great, here come some high school boys. Hope they enjoy this. I'm not going to make it. Oh, half way? Ok good. Oh my goodness gracious, run 6?! Are they trying to kill me!? Ok, one more. Brisk walk cool down? How about death down? Oh. Oh my. I made it. I MADE IT! I'm a rockstar!!!"

Stay tuned for more from the non-runner!

30 under 30: May Update

Oh. My. Gosh. I have a month left. It's time to haul butt to the finish line. So what did I get done in May? Here's the run down:

9. Take a once a month class and learn something new - This took a day into June, but I'm counting it for May! Last night Steffi and I did the second part of our pottery class and painted our pots. One we made a commemorative bowl for our 30 under 30. Pics will come once we pick it up!!

20. Catalogue the choir music at church - DONE! My music library looks incredible. And I'm very thankful to have a way to find our music easily. We had 47 pieces of music, if I'd waited another year it would be a pain!

21. Take a getaway trip with my hubby - DONE! We had a fantastic trip to the Gaylord this past weekend. It was wonderful!

22. Miss a Sunday of church - DONE!! This almost didn't happen, but we made it. It was a wonderful break.

24. Learn to play the hammered dulcimer. I got my dulcimer in this month and learned the first song in my book, so I'm counting that!!

26. Have lunch with my mom once a month - We had a nice lunch at Don Taco along with my dad and our friend Tricia too!

27. Spend time with the girls once a month - This is one that keeps getting better and better! Got to see Bridesmaids with Steffi, then met Jenica for drinks!

I have a lot to do in June, but I'm looking forward to finishing up the list!

April Recap - 30 before 30

Wow was April a BUSY month! Here's what I got for ya today:

2. Publish some music - I officially sent off my piece to get my first rejection letter. Let the wait begin. :)

4. Write a business plan for a music studio - I didn't even bother writing this down - I decided that I like how my studio is rolling just fine, and I don't want a bigger thing. :) Done!

6. Sell our house and move - Done and DONE! This was a huge one!! We are all moved - not settled, but very happy about it!

9. Take a once a month class - took a pottery class with Steffi!

11. Finish one book a month - I read a great book this month called "The Next Thing on My List." My good friend Steffi loaned this to me - you can read about her review of the book here.

27. Eat lunch with my mom once a month - done! It was on the floor of our new house while we were moving, but nevertheless, lunch.

28. Eat a four course dinner for free - we did this last week at the Hill's house. Steffi had on her list to host a formal dinner party, Jenica had on her list to cook a four course meal, so we piled all three of these together for a ridiculously fun evening!

I'm now down to two months - yikes!! Time to put it into high gear!Link

I'm movin' on...

A week ago we began our move into our new home in Trophy Club. This whole move process really came with mixed emotions. We fought for a very long time to stay in our house, however, once we made the decision to put it up for sale, we never looked back.

Our old house to us symbolized success, arrival, and security, however, it couldn't provide that. No matter how much trust and hope we put in the house, it was just a house.

See for us, the move was a do-over. We sold the thing that was once the most important thing to us, paid off the debt racked up from the past few horrible years. We moved from the place that every day reminded us of a past life we no longer lived in.

Our move has been hectic, and I still don't know where most of my clothes are, but I'm happy to be here. People have asked how the move was, was I sad, was I upset about selling my home, they were sorry, etc? I really was at peace with it all. It's an end to a long four rough years, and Rascal Flatts says it best (and click on the title to hear the song). Here's to a new beginning!

I've dealt with my ghosts and I've faced all my demons
Finally content with a past I regret
I've found you find strength in your moments of weakness
For once I'm at peace with myself
I've been burdened with blame, trapped in the past for too long
I'm movin' on
I've lived in this place and I know all the faces
Each one is different but they're always the same
They mean me no harm but it's time that I face it
They'll never allow me to change
But I never dreamed home would end up where I don't belong
I'm movin' on

Chorus
I'm movin' on
At last I can see life has been patiently waiting for me
And I know there's no guarantees, but I'm not alone
There comes a time in everyone's life
When all you can see are the years passing by
And I have made up my mind that those days are gone

I sold what I could and packed what I couldn't
Stopped to fill up on my way out of town
I've loved like I should but lived like I shouldn't
I had to lose everything to find out
Maybe forgiveness will find me somewhere down this road
I'm movin' on

I'm movin' on
I'm movin' on
